Stefi is Currently away completing her Midwifery studies at UBC and will be occasionally working as a Locum during her breaks.
Stefi is originally from Venezuela she moved to Vancouver in 2001, in 2006, she completed her diplomas in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine at the International College of TCM in Vancouver. She has traveled to England, Germany and Switzerland where she has done extensive post-graduate studies in Acupuncture for pregnancy and gynecological disorders. Stefi is passionate about Women’s wellness; in particular pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and post-partum health.
Becoming a Doula awakened a passion for birth and a huge admiration for the power and wisdom of birthing women. She thoroughly enjoys meeting couples and families and sharing the transformative experience of birth with them, it is an honor for her to be a part of such an intimate experience.
She combines modern medical research with a holistic approach to enhance the relationship between the body and mind while always respecting the body’s innate wisdom and strengthening its natural ability to achieve balance and health.
In 2013 Stefi completed the Breastfeeding for health-care professionals course at Douglas College and has since enjoyed working as a breastfeeding counsellor integrating acupuncture and TCM with evidence based practices to improve latching and increase milk supply.
The birth of her son in 2013 opened her eyes to the amazing joys and challenges that come with becoming a mother. Her own experiences of pregnancy, birth and motherhood have strengthened her commitment to supporting women in the childbearing years and beyond.
Stefi is currently in her 3rd year of Midwifery at UBC’s department of Family Practice.
